The Catalyst In Me

TCIM - ”The Catalyst In Me”  is a life science careers and science communication blog created by Adama Fatima Saccoh.

Why?

Life science careers: TCIM started as a way of seeking answers for  clarity on the life science career pathways, which then  developed into sharing the findings online to educate anyone seeking this information in  a slightly non-conventional way on the endless possibilities. In the search for what careers to pursue outside medicine, the interview platform grew from friends, family and close circles to amazing contributors at all levels along the career journey. To date TCIM holds 70+ career journeys with an in-depth and honest perspective of the challenges and rewards of the different paths and perspectives on life and science.

Science Communication: TCIM aims to engage more than the average scientist / graduate in science conversation by weaving the importance of science into daily conversation. The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of constant dialogue between scientists and the general public. TCIM has engaged the public and produced the “ public perception of science series “ alongside the “ Bench to Bedside” series which both explain science topics in an easy and understandable way. Finally TCIM aims to grow the science communication into regular commentary on popular and important life science news and events through regular blog posts.

Adama Fatima Saccoh: ( me) is the creator of TCIM. She holds a Bsc in Medical Physiology and Masters in Medical Ultrasound. TCIM started the beginning of an amazing journey in science communication, writing and career guidance. My aims for this blog are greater than my current thoughts. TCIM started as a flow of thoughts that ended up in a web page and I intend to continue in that path of sharing my career journey and others whilst also expanding on different aspects of science communication and engagement. I believe science isn't finished until it is communicated.
